The backbone of our Tree House program is the special group of volunteers who lead the peer support groups under the supervision of our staff.
To become a group facilitator, a volunteer completes a 21 hour training program exploring the nature of grief for children and adults, and learning the skills necessary to lead a group. The training is simultaneously challenging and enriching, leaving those who complete it with a unique understanding of the process through which they can help others to heal. Over the years, many volunteers have described the training - and subsequent experience as a facilitator - as some of the most rewarding of their lives.
Volunteer facilitator training classes are held annually at the BCW Office.
